Director: Robb Shipp
Robb Shipp is a 2003 graduate of Bridgewater College located in Bridgewater, VA. He began his teaching career at Cumberland Middle/High School in Cumberland, VA before moving to Altavista Combined School in 2008. Mr. Shipp has been the director of bands at Franklin County High School since 2013. Under Mr. Shipp’s direction the FCHS Instrumental Music Program has earned numerous superior ratings in multiple different ensembles. In 2017 FCHS became a Virginia Honor Band for the first time in school history. Mr. Shipp believes that music education is for everybody. He works hard to make sure that all members of his band find a place to be successful.
Mr. Shipp lives in Franklin County with his wife Joanna, a 7th generation dairy farmer and FCHS grad, and their daughter. When he is not spending countless hours with the students, Mr. Shipp enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his love of golf. Also his favorite color is Orange.
Assistant Director: Nora Vitello
I graduated from Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, VA and attended Virginia Tech where I where I graduated with my undergraduate in Music Education and Flute Performance in 2010, and with my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011. From there I took the position of elementary music teacher in Franklin County where I teach PreK through 5th grade students at Henry, Ferrum, and Callaway Elementary. During that time I have also served as the assistant director for the Franklin County Marching Eagles. I enjoy encouraging a love of music at all the levels I teach, and making sure we have fun while creating.
Percussion Instructor: Kevin Campbell
Kevin Campbell is a native of Henry County, Va. He received his performers certificate in Music Production and Arranging from Berklee College of Music. He is a graduate of Blue Ridge Community College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree in Aeronautics. Kevin has over 18 years’ experience in percussion that ranges from BOA to DCI, and has performance experience with The Cadets of Bergen County and The Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps. He is also a member of PASIC, and an active studio and stage musician. He has performed with numerous local and regional artists. His career has led him throughout the east coast, and has given him opportunities to work with great musicians such as Tom Aungst, Thom Hannum, Dr. Stuart Benkert, Ralph Hardimon, and many others. Kevin and his lovely wife Sarah reside in Franklin County where he works as the percussion instructor for Franklin County High School.
Guard Instructor: Diana Hall
Diana Hall is an elementary music teacher for Franklin County Public Schools. She graduated from William Byrd High School in 2011. While there, she was an active member and captain of the WBHS Colorguard. She then attended Liberty University, and graduated with a Bachelors of Music degree in 2015. She was a member and squad leader of the Liberty University Colorguard during her four years of study. After graduation, she married the love of her life, Brett Hall, and they have been happily married for 2 years in July. She is excited about this new journey as the FCHS Colorguard instructor, with hopes of sharing her love for music and performing with this wonderful group of students.
